PTA Meeting – School Affairs Report
The PTA Board Meeting, held on 11th August 2026, provided the PTA Moms with an overview of the School's key initiatives and achievements during the Academic Year 2025–2026. The session also highlighted the measures implemented in response to parents' suggestions from the previous year and invited valuable feedback and recommendations to further strengthen the School's initiatives in the current academic year.
Best Class Award – July 2026
The Best Class Award for July 2026 was presented to Class III A for the Primary Category during the Morning Assembly on 4th August 2026. Presented by our Principal, Mrs Shabana Tabasum, the award was a gesture of appreciation to the class's discipline, team work and commitment.
As part of an initiative by the Government of Tamil Nadu, students of MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School took the Anti-Drug Pledge on 11th August 2026, reaffirming their commitment to leading a healthy and responsible life while spreading awareness about the importance of a drug-free society.
Leadership Club – Inspiring Young Leaders
Students of MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School actively participated in the Leadership Club on 8th July 2026, strengthening their confidence, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills through an engaging session.
Contribution of India's Freedom Fighters to the Nation's Independence
Students of Standards VI to XII participated in a multilingual speech competition on 8th July 2026, presenting inspiring speeches in English, Tamil, and Urdu on the theme, "Contribution of India's Freedom Fighters to the Nation's Independence." The event celebrated patriotism, eloquence, and respect for the sacrifices of our national heroes.
English Intra Week – Celebrating Language and Talent
The English Intra Week, conducted from 3rd to 7th August 2026, provided students across all Grades with a vibrant platform to showcase their language skills through a variety of engaging competitions. The week celebrated creativity, confidence, communication, and the spirit of healthy competition, inspiring students to learn, participate, and excel.
Workshop on Atomic Habits – Building Better Routines
The Staff of MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School participated in an engaging workshop on “Atomic Habits” conducted by Mrs. Azha Ashika on 8th August 2026. The session highlighted how small, consistent changes can create meaningful improvements in personal and professional life.
English Recitation Competition – Tiny Voices, Big Expressions
The English Recitation Competition for Nursery students was conducted on 5th August 2026, providing young learners with a wonderful opportunity to showcase their confidence, expression, and speaking skills through delightful performances using creative props.
Best Class Award – July 2026
On 4th August 2026, VIII C was honoured with the Best Class Award for July 2026 in the category of classes VI to XII. The award was presented by our Principal, Mrs Shabana Tabasum, in recognition of the class's exemplary discipline, unity, and consistent commitment to excellence.
Inter-School Competitions – Triumph Through Talent
On 2nd August 2026, our students brought laurels to the School at the 50th Golden Jubilee Inter-School English Elocution and Drawing Competitions by securing First and Second Prizes across the Junior, Senior, and Super Senior Categories. Their outstanding achievements in oratory and arts reflect their talent, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
Zonal Carrom Tournament – A Proud Sporting Achievement
On 3rd August 2026, our students delivered an outstanding performance at the Zonal Carrom Tournament, securing the Winner position in the Under-19 Girls' Doubles event, the Runners-up position in the Under-17 Girls' Doubles event, and the Runners-up position in the Under-19 Girls' Singles event. Their remarkable achievement reflects dedication, focus, and sporting excellence.

Urdu Club Activity – Learning Through Language
The Urdu Club organised an enriching language-learning session on 25th July 2026, combining interactive teaching with engaging classroom activities to make learning meaningful and enjoyable. Among the highlights was the Identity Card (Ta'aruf) Activity, which enabled students to apply their Urdu communication skills creatively while fostering confidence, active participation, and a deeper appreciation for the language.
Deen and Life Club Awareness Session – The Evils of Music
The Deen and Life Club conducted an insightful awareness session on "The Evils of Music," guiding students through authentic references from the Qur'an and Sunnah to understand its impact from an Islamic perspective. Through engaging discussions and interactive activities, the session encouraged students to reflect on their choices, strengthen their faith, and strive to uphold Islamic values in their daily lives.
Our school team delivered an impressive performance at the Zonal Sports Tournament held on 20th July 2026 at CSI Monahan Higher Secondary School, securing the Runners-up position in Kho Kho and Third Place in Silambam. We congratulate our students on this commendable achievement and their dedication and sporting excellence.
Value Education Meet – Haya in Modern Society
The Value Education Meet, held on 14th July 2026 for the students of Std. VI to XII, featured an insightful session on "Haya in Modern Society" by Dr. Zakiyah Fathima, a public speaker and educator. Drawing upon the Qur'an and Sunnah, she encouraged students to embrace modesty, dignity, and good character, inspiring them to uphold Islamic values with confidence in their daily lives.
Meikkaaval – Self-Defence Workshop
With the vision of empowering young girls through awareness and preparedness, MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School, in association with the Rotary Club of Chennai Maithri, organised 'Meikkaaval', a Self-Defence Workshop for students of Classes VI–XII on 23rd July 2026. The hands-on training was conducted by Dr. V. Saranya, a Black Belt and self-defence trainer from Born to Fight, who demonstrated practical self-defence techniques, personal safety strategies, and situational awareness, and confident decision-making in challenging circumstances.
Fire Safety Awareness and Mock Fire Drill
To promote a culture of safety and preparedness, MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School conducted a Fire Safety Awareness and Mock Fire Drill in collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Services Department on 21st July 2026. Through live demonstrations and practical guidance, students and staff gained essential knowledge of fire safety, emergency response, and evacuation procedures.
Academic Excellence Award 2026 – Celebrating Outstanding Board Performance
Honouring academic excellence and outstanding achievement, students of MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School were presented with the Academic Excellence Award 2025 at Hidhaya Islamic College for Girls on 11th July 2026 in recognition of their excellent performance in the Class X Board Examinations.
Showcasing exceptional teamwork, resilience, and unwavering determination, the MWA Kabaddi Team secured the runner-up position in the Zonal Kabaddi Tournament held at Ebba's Higher Secondary School on 16th July 2026.
POCSO Awareness Session – Growing Safe, Growing Strong
On 16th July 2026, MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School organised a POCSO Awareness Session for students of Classes VI–XII, featuring Dr Vidyaa Hari Iyer—Laser Dentist, Psychotherapist, Counsellor, and POSH & POCSO Consultant/Trainer—as the resource person. Through an engaging and interactive session, she sensitised students to the importance of personal safety, respectful boundaries, responsible communication, and the confidence to recognise, respond to, and report inappropriate behaviour.
Teachers' Workshop – Psychological First Aid
Recognising that teachers balance multiple roles as educators, caregivers, and mothers, MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School organised a Teachers' Workshop on Psychological First Aid on 18th July 2026. Facilitated by Mrs. Afrin Jahan, the session focused on emotional well-being, stress management, and resilience, equipping staff with practical strategies to nurture both their own mental health and a supportive learning environment for their students.
Health & Wellness Club – Inspiring Healthy Minds and Active Lives
Promoting health, wellness, and positive lifestyle habits, students of MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School enthusiastically participated in the Health & Wellness Club session held on 18th July 2026. Through interactive activities, engaging discussions, and fun exercises, students gained valuable insights into physical fitness, mental well-being, teamwork, and healthy living, empowering them to make informed choices for a healthier future.
Digital Club – Learning Beyond the Classroom
Fostering digital literacy and practical learning, students of MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School actively participated in the Digital Club session held on 18th July 2026. Through hands-on activities on the Computer, students enhanced their technology skills, critical thinking, and confidence, preparing them for the digital world.
Green Guardians – Indoor Planting Activity By Eco Club
Promoting environmental awareness through experiential learning, students of MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School enthusiastically participated in an Indoor Planting Activity on 18th July 2026 which was conducted by Eco Club. By planting and caring for a variety of indoor plants, students learned the importance of teamwork, sustainability, and nurturing nature, inspiring them to become responsible guardians of a greener tomorrow.
Teachers' Training Workshop – Motivating Gen Z Learners
Five Coordinators from MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School participated in the *Teachers' Training Workshop on "Motivating Gen Z Learners,"* organised by the *Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP), Chennai Chapter*, on *11th July 2026*. The session, led by *Mrs. Lubna Omer, Cambridge-Certified Teacher Trainer, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah*, provided practical strategies to engage Gen Z learners through learner-centred teaching, meaningful classroom relationships, and the promotion of critical thinking and collaboration.
Mom's Day – Financial Literacy for Families
MWA Matriculation Higher Secondary School hosted the *Mom's Day – Financial Literacy for Families* programme on *8th July 2026*. The session was led by *Mr. Mohammed Imthiaz S., Assistant Professor, Department of Corporate Secretaryship, The New College, Chennai*, who shared practical insights on financial planning and responsible money management. The programme empowered mothers with essential financial knowledge to make informed decisions for their families' present and future.
Seerah Competitions 2026–2027 (Qira'at, Elocution & Quiz Competitions)
Rooted in the spirit of the Seerah Competitions 2026–2027, the Qira'at, Elocution, and Quiz Competitions offered students enriching opportunities to engage with the Holy Qur'an and the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Through recitation, eloquent expression, and knowledge-based participation, the competitions nurtured devotion, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the virtuous life and timeless teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Parent Orientation Programme for Remedial Support
With the belief that every child deserves understanding and the opportunity to thrive, Principal Mrs. Shabana Tabasum addressed parents on 29th June 2026 through a thoughtfully curated Parent Orientation Programme on learning difficulties and remedial support. The session underscored the significance of early intervention, informed parental involvement, and a collaborative approach to nurturing every learner's potential.
Student Leadership Development Programme
On 1st July 2026, the Principal, Mrs Shabana Tabasum, conducted the Student Leadership Development Programme for Class Captains and Assistant Class Captains (Std. IV–XII) under the theme, "Leadership is Service, Not Status."
The session provided valuable insights into the qualities, responsibilities, and ethical values that define effective leadership, encouraging students to lead with integrity, humility, responsibility, and a spirit of service.
Nurturing Faith Through Purity and Practice.
On 23 June 2026, a special session on the Importance of Taharah (Purity) was conducted for the boys of Classes III to V by Mrs. Nazneen Taj, Value Education Coordinator. The interactive session highlighted the significance of cleanliness and personal hygiene in Islam, encouraging students to cultivate habits of purity as an essential part of their faith and daily lives.

The LKG Parent Orientation Programme, held on 22 June 2026, was conducted by the Principal, Mrs. Shabana Tabasum. The session served as a meaningful platform for parents to understand the vision of the School and gain valuable insights into supporting their child's learning journey. The session highlighted the importance of partnership, trust, and support in nurturing confident and happy learners.
Celebrating Excellence and Achievement
During the morning assembly held on 22 June 2026, M.W.A. Matriculation and Higher Secondary School proudly recognised outstanding achievements across various fields. The awards were presented by the Principal, Mrs. Shabana Tabasum. Students were honoured for their remarkable performance in the Indian Talent Olympiad, including a State Rank secured by Luthfana of Class II-C, while dedicated educators were recognised for their excellence. M.W.A. Matriculation and Higher Secondary School conducted its Investiture Ceremony on 20 June 2026, formally entrusting the newly elected student leaders with the responsibility of upholding the school's values and traditions. Graced by Mrs. Faiza Abdur Rehman, Former Secretary, M.W.A., the ceremony marked a significant milestone in the students' leadership journey, celebrating commitment, service, and the promise of purposeful leadership.
Value Education Meet – Std. VIII to XII
The Value Education Meet, conducted in two batches for students of Std. VIII to XII, featured an engaging and interactive session by Mrs. Umme Ahmad on the theme, "Leading With Purpose – Building Character, Conviction & Confidence." The session emphasised the importance of sincere intention, purposeful action, and steadfastness in the face of challenges, encouraging students to remain focused on their goals and translate their values into meaningful action.
The Eid Milan celebration held on 13th June 2026 was a heartwarming occasion that brought the MWA family together in the true spirit of unity and gratitude. Graced by the presence of the Management and Executive Committee Members, the gathering featured an inspiring address by Mrs. Asfiya Iqbal, whose reflections on self worth, self care and the dignity of women left a lasting impression on the audience. The interactive session, followed by fellowship over lunch, made the event a meaningful celebration of shared values and togetherness.
From M.W.A. Student to Accomplished Surgeon: An Inspiring Homecoming
The School was honoured to welcome Dr. Ali Kausar Zaidi, a distinguished alumnus and retired General Surgeon. Reflecting on his school days, he shared how the encouragement and guidance of his teachers and Principal played a significant role in shaping his journey to success. His interaction with the students was both inspiring and insightful. Dr. Zaidi also met with the School Management, engaging in a cordial and meaningful exchange that reaffirmed his enduring bond with the institution.
Inspiring Minds, Empowering Futures
On 10th June, our students of Classes XI Science and XI Arts attended the "Know Your Rights – Empowering Muslim Women" workshop at JBAS College. Through meaningful interactions with eminent speakers, they gained valuable insights into the rights guaranteed under Muslim Law and the Constitution of India, fostering awareness, critical thinking, and the confidence to become informed and responsible citizens.
The first assembly of the Academic year(2026 - 27) welcomed our students of Classes VI–XII to a new season of learning, where every morning begins with purpose, values, and the pursuit of excellence.

Parent Orientation Programme – Std. X & XII (Board Examination Batch 2026–27)
The Parent Orientation Programme, conducted by the Principal on 6th June 2026, was centred on the theme, "Walking Together: A Shared Journey Towards Success." The session reflected thep collective commitment of the School, Parents, and Students towards purpose, perseverance, and success during the Board Examination year.
The new academic year (2026-27) at MWA School began on a joyful note as students were warmly welcomed into a vibrant learning environment, setting the stage for a year of growth , character building and excellence.
