“There is none amongst the Muslims who plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, but is regarded as a charitable gift for him.” (Bukhari)

Climate change, Global Warming, Pollution. These are all terms we have been coming across a few too many times. In this scary reality, M.W. A’s small step to a cleaner future is inspiring a love for nature in our youth.

The Eco club is a forum encouraging students to participate and take up activities like recycling, gardening, waste disposal, and much more. The club encourages its students to explore concepts beyond the confines of the school curriculum and make them care about a cause greater than themselves

This year, the club had an overwhelming response with a total of 195 students signing up. They attended regular meetings and had hands-on planting sessions on our school campus where they planted hibiscus, Nerium, Tulsi, and Jasmine. They also took part in an adaptive reuse exercise where they made Eco-friendly products that they got to display and sell in our school carnival.

Such mindfulness is extremely important to our school as we want our students to be respectful to the planet they live on and have a be of service to it and everyone they share it with!

The students were also taken on field trips to Chetpet Eco Park and Thozhkappia Poonga where they were exposed to many types of wildlife and plants and got to learn first hand from the people that worked there, about each species
